Colerne Parish Council is made up of 13 voluntary councillors who represent residents in the area. It is the bottom rung on the ladder of local government which extends up through to Wiltshire Council to Parliament.

The parish council has several assets (click here for more details) as well as certain legal duties and responsibilities. It sets its own council tax (called a ‘precept’) every year and has an annual budget of around £35,000.

Councillors abide by a set of good conduct rules set locally and nationally and ultimately overseen by an independent standards board.
