Hangars 18, 19 and 20

The Parish Council would like to clarify the reasoning behind decisions made regarding the Change of Use of Hanger 19 N/10/00444/FUL and of Hangars 18 and 20 N/11/03148/FUL.

In 2010 the Parish Council (PC) hosted the developer’s consultation exercise on N/10/00444/FUL during which the PC conducted its own exit poll. The exit poll indicated a small minority in favour of the proposed change of use.   The principal objections received during the exit poll and in letters to Wiltshire Council (WC) Planning Department were mainly concerned with traffic issues. Two councillors attended the (WC) Planning meeting held on 3^rd November 2010 and formally raised local community concerns and issues surrounding the application. This resulted in WC Highways being instructed to re-examine the traffic issues. WC Highways then concluded that the only issue was that site access should be established prior to the commencement of any work.

From the July 2011 developer’s consultation exercise on N/11/03148/FUL 44 parishioners submitted completed questionnaires of which 24 were for and 20 against development of the brown field site.  

The members of the PC recognise that these applications are likely to be controversial but that they must remain objective and consider the pros and cons across the whole community.

Any future changes to current proposals on the hangars will be treated in the same manner as all other planning applications.
