Who we are
The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group is made up of volunteers who live in Colerne Parish, including 4 parish councillors, who came forward after a public meeting in December 2016.
Current Steering Group members are: Jane Mellett (Chair) Anne Nicholas (Vice-chair), Stephen Ayres, Hilary Holman, Sue Jones, Peter Mellett, George Batterham and, Gary Brain and Tom Hall. Parish Councillors Bob Jones, Jacqui Bradburn, and Bob Child are also in the Steering Group.
A number of local people help support working groups, giving extra local knowledge and expertise. We are also working with Bristol based planning consultants Place Studio to help us create the plan: http://www.placestudio.com/
What we do
Our purpose is to steer the process of consulting with everyone who works or lives in the parish about how the parish should develop over the next 10 years and from this produce the Neighbourhood Plan. We gather evidence of what is currently in existence, and what the majority of local people would like to see for the future of our built environment. We produce a written plan to express this and also try to integrate the hopes and wishes into existing council plans.
Ultimately local people give us a mandate by voting in a referendum to support the final Neighbourhood Plan.
When we meet
The usual pattern for meetings has been the Third Thursday of each month at 7.30 in the café room of the Old School, Vicarage Lane. The public are welcome to come and hear what we talk about.
